Accessing SPSS from off-campus

Did you know that UCLA student, faculty and staff members can access SPSS20 through a web browser?  Now you can, from the CLICC Software Shortcuts.  Start here:

to learn about your system requirements, and then have your UCLA login ready to gain access.  SPSS is one of many applications available.  Matlab, Mathmatica, and MPlus are also offered.

Crowdsourcing good ideas in Research Informatics

Free and open classes on SPSS and Stata

UCLA's Institute for Digital Research and Education offers a variety of statistical software services, including walk-in and email consulting, web pages on statistical computing, online classes and seminars, periodic live seminars, and statistics books for loan.  Some upcoming classes are:

• Repeated Measures Analysis using Stata, Wednesday, January 30, 9 a.m. to 12 noon in 5628 Math Sciences.

"Getting Started with EndNote"

Join us for a 1 hour session on using EndNote and EndNote Web. During the hour you will learn

• How to create and edit a reference Library 
• How to manage databases 
• How to "Cite While You Write" in Microsoft Word 

This session will be held on Wednesday December 19, 2012 from 10AM – 11AM in 2320 Life Sciences Building (LSB). The session will be presented by the UCLA Health and Life Sciences Library and is FREE. No RSVP necessary.

We’d like to encourage all department members to take a short eCourse on information security awareness. This UC-specific course covers basic information regarding security, email, passwords, and social engineering, in addition to introducing contemporary threats and teaching good behaviors that protect information. It can be completed in about 30 minutes, and is highly recommended for anyone in today's electronic world. You can access the course from the link above.

Open Scholar

 UCLA’s Information Technology Planning Board and Office of Information Technology are sponsoring the Faculty Digital Presence (FDP) project, which gives faculty members the ability to create professional websites to showcase their scholarship, teaching, and service. The web based service used for this effort is called “Open Scholar." It allows users to customize their sites with various features such as bios, publication lists, and blogs.
